4 When the Lord saw that Moses was coming closer, he called to him from the middle of the bush and said, “Moses! Moses!”

He answered, “Yes, here I am.”

5 God said, “Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, because you are standing on holy ground. ^{Exodus 3:4-5}

Dear God,

What made the ground holy on that day, at that time? Was it your burning presence? Was it your spoken voice? Hadn’t Moses passed that bush before? Why was it not holy then? Or is it the truth, that the ground is always holy - not just at that time but every time? Because Dear God, you are always with us.

I realise Dear God, that I stand in a Holy Place, because wherever I stand, you stand there with me.

But there are so many things happening around me and around all of us,
things that seem to pull us here and there, things that take our attention and render us unaware of your presence God.

Isn’t the ground always holy?

There are events and issues that need our urgent attention, so much so that they overwhelm us, and we miss the opportunity to invite you even closer into our lives and into the things that trouble us.

And it is at these times, that it’s so easy for others to find our weaknesses and use them against us. And we so want to raise to the expectations that others hold of us, but we are such flawed individuals, that many times we fail.

But Dear God, we stand in a Holy Place, because you stand with us.
With all our flaws, and issues, and weaknesses you stand with us.

And when we miss opportunities and make mistakes, and even when we forget you, You are there standing with us, making where we stand in all our weakness, Holy.

We stand in a Holy place Dear God.
Help us to see that. Help us to remember that. Help us to share that with others, even in all the things that seem to pull us here and there. You stand with us and through Your Holy Will we are made strong, we are encouraged, we are cared for.

We stand in a Holy place, because God stands with us, as God stood with Moses.
