  • Yesterday's gone, today's here and Friday is approaching

It was Tuesday when Jesus again returned to Jerusalem and the Temple.

It is there that the Temple leaders confronted him and asked “By what authority are you doing these things?”

Tuesday was a day full of conflict, of questions and counter questions, of the laying of traps and the evading of traps, and of plans to discredit Jesus before the crowds.

Tuesday also provided Jesus with a teaching opportunity and he used parables to encourage reflection. He spoke of the vineyard, the wicked tenants, and about a wedding banquet. He also spoke about the paying of taxes and about the destruction of the temple. But one Pharisee wanted to know —what is it that truly matters?

I see everyday that love matters — it matters that we love God above all else, that we love our neighbours and that we love ourselves. For me, that is everything!
The Pharisee came to the realisation that loving God above all else is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.

What does it mean to you to love God above all else?  What does loving God with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, look like to you?
